It’s November 11th, and you know what that means… It’s Pocky Day! This particular date was chosen due to the snack’s shape, as the long, straight biscuits resemble the number one. Ezaki Glico, the company that produces both snacks, has been promoting Pocky Day (officially known as Pocky & Pretz Day) since 1999, and the date is even formally recognized as a memorial day by the Japan Anniversary Association! Pocky also makes a great party snack, and its thin, crisp, and satisfying snap is bound to keep you coming back for more.

Have you ever heard of or tried Pocky? It's a pretty well-known snack in Japan that comes in a number of flavors that are delicious! These long biscuits are covered with a tasty frosting and are portable enough to eat on the go!

Because of their distinct shape, November 11th became known as "Pocky Day" back in 1999 and people celebrate by sharing a pack with their friends or taking selfies of themselves enjoying the treat.

In Japan, March 3rd is a holiday known as Hinamatsuri, also called “Girls’ Day” or “Dolls’ Day”. Hina dolls are often said to represent the royal family, although the display is often in the style of a Heian Period wedding. Displays can be small, with only two dolls, or they can be quite elaborate, with multiple tiers and an entire court supporting the emperor and empress.

Japanese families often celebrate by eating a special meal, like multicolored rice cakes or chirashizushi (a variety of sushi in a bento box), while they enjoy the doll display.
